Luke – Day 20

IT IS WRITTEN – Luke 4:1-12; Psalm 1:2-3; Psalm 119:9-11

In the face of the overt temptations Jesus faced in this passage, He replied with God’s Word. But he didn’t just quote words as some kind of magical incantation. He spoke truth to the lies each temptation was based on.

There’s much for us to learn from this as we overcome temptation. When you’re tempted, pause to consider exactly WHAT that temptation is appealing to. Once you nail down the root offer and why it seems attractive, watch the Holy Spirit bring to mind a truth from Scripture to nuke it.

How can we use scripture to “fight off” temptation? Why would it be worth your time to memorize passages of God’s Word?
