Women’s Ministry

Women’s Ministry at Calvary Chapel Oxnard is the avenue God is using to fulfill His purpose in the lives of women today.  It is our desire to see women change as they draw closer to the Lord and learn to trust Him and live for Him.  As we keep the focus on Jesus, we do our best to help women comprehend what is the width and length and depth and height of the love of Christ so they will become firmly rooted and grounded in their relationship with Him and walk in all the fullness of God in this fallen world.

If you would like to join our Women’s Ministry Happenings email list, let us know by sending an email to ccowomen@outlook.com.  You can also check out the Women’s Ministry Facebook page at www.facebook.com/ccowomen.  Our activities are listed on the calendar below.

Prayer (Isaiah 61:1-4) – Fruitful Vineyards will be meeting for prayer the 1st and 3rd Tuesdays from 7-9pm.  This is a prayer ministry for women committed to living holy lives by seeking God under the leading of the Holy Spirit in a setting which values confidentiality and expresses the love and grace of Christ.  Debbie De La Huerta and other prayer warriors look forward to seeing lives changed as they listen to God and carry out His plan.  You are welcome to join the group for prayer when you can.

Women’s Night of Worship – Sheila Mount organizes this time when women to come together throughout the year to worship our God and to pray corporately.  This meeting is held in the upstairs sanctuary, Room 201, from 7-8:30pm.

MOPS & MOMS Next – MOPS stands for Mothers of Pre-Schoolers, and MOMS Next represents the season of raising school-age children.  Christine Friedl leads the group as we gather together on the 2nd and 4th Wednesday, September through May, at Calvary Chapel Oxnard in the Fellowship Hall between the hours of 9:30 – 11:30 am.  Our mission is to ‘nurture the nurturer’ by providing a safe place to gather, share, and encourage one another in an intimate relationship with God.  Childcare is provided.

Women’s Breakfasts – Olga Ochoa heads a team of servants to provide all who attend the breakfasts food for the body, soul, and spirit through fellowship, worship, and the word of God.  These breakfasts are held on Saturday mornings and provide the perfect opportunity to bring your sister, mother, friends and co-workers.

Women Discipling Women – We meet for the purpose of encouraging one another to experience the joy of the practical application of God’s word in our everyday lives, whether that be in cooking, gardening, decorating or other areas.  We share our gifts and abilities that are designed by God while having fellowship in a real-life setting.  Sandy Fuller is responsible for this ministry and invites you to check the calendar below for the next event.

Annual Retreat – The purpose of our annual retreat is to withdraw from the world and find seclusion in the Lord.  The retreat is to be a time of refreshment which provides opportunities to build new friendships and strengthen established friendships through fellowship, prayer for one another, breaking bread together, worshipping our living God as one body, and learning about Him through teaching from His Word.  Suzanne Still is organizing the many people who assist with this event.

Christmas Decorating – Lorie Mala coordinates transforming the church from our everyday home to a place full of reminders of the birth of Christ as we celebrate Christmas.  She leads a team of ladies who have a heart to decorate or those who just want to lend a helping hand.  All are welcome to volunteer in this important ministry to our congregation.

Blessing Tree – Christmas is a special time of the year for the leader of our Christmas Blessing Tree, Rita Trejo.  She and her team organize the Blessing Tree which gives all of us the opportunity to make Christmas special for those in need by providing gifts.

Mission and Vision

The mission of Women’s Ministry at Calvary Oxnard is to provide opportunities for the women of our church and community to develop a more intimate relationship with God.  Through various events, we seek to touch the heart of every woman with the love of Jesus as we come together for prayer, worship, the study of God’s Word, and fellowship.  We are dedicated to serving our Lord and investing our time and talents in the spiritual growth of one another.

Our vision is to be a ministry of women devoted to God, equipped in the knowledge of His Word, and walking in all His fullness.  Through our events we will see evidence of the power of the Holy Spirit as He saves, strengthens, and refreshes our commitment to the Lord.  We see ourselves consistently living out our faith as we passionately serve God and one another, being rooted and grounded in the love of Christ.

As our organizing principle, we are Committed to Christ; Dedicated to Service.

“For this reason I bow my knees to the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, from whom the whole family in heaven and earth is named, that He would grant you according to the riches of His glory, to be strengthened with might through His Spirit in the inner man, that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith; that you, being rooted and grounded in love, may be able to comprehend with all the saints what is the width and length and depth and height—to know the love of Christ which passes knowledge; that you may be filled with all the fullness of God.”  Ephesians 3:14-19
