Women’s Ministry

Be filled with ALL the fullness of God!

-Ephesians 3:19

For the past several months, the Lord has been working with me to focus the mission and stretch the vision of our women’s ministry.  As our church continues to grow and the dynamics of the individuals making up the church changes, we need to be prepared to move with God to meet the various needs of the women He brings to us.  It is my prayer that you will be blessed by the opportunities you find here at Calvary Chapel of Oxnard to pray, worship, and become more intimate in your relationship with Jesus Christ and one another, and that you will be filled with all the fullness of God.  Please let me know if I can help you in any way.

Our mission is to provide opportunities for the women of our church and community to develop a more intimate relationship with God.  Through various events, we seek to touch the heart of every woman with the love of Jesus as we come together for prayer, worship, the study of God’s Word, and fellowship.  We are dedicated to serving our Lord and investing our time and talents in the spiritual growth of one another.

Our vision is to be a ministry of women devoted to God, equipped in the knowledge of His Word, and walking in ALL His fullness.  Through our events we will see evidence of the power of the Holy Spirit as He saves, strengthens, and refreshes our commitment to the Lord.  We see ourselves consistently living out our faith as we passionately serve God and one another, being rooted and grounded in the love of Christ.

As our organizing principle, we are Committed to Christ; Dedicated to Service.

Blessings!
Jerie Sagely
Women’s Ministry Coordinator

Ministries We Offer:

Bible Study – The Women’s Bible Study meets every Thursday at 9:00 am and 6:30 pm with the purpose of deepening our relationship with God and encouraging our spiritual growth through prayer, worship, teaching, and small group fellowship.  Susan Bass is at the helm of the Bible study with Sheila Mount and Amy Thurman assisting her.  She leads the morning study and Linda Oksner is on the team as the leader of the evening study.

Prayer (Isaiah 61:1-4) – Fruitful Vineyards will be meeting for prayer the 1st and 3rd Tuesdays from 7-9 pm.  This is a prayer ministry for women committed to living holy lives by seeking God under the leading of the Holy Spirit in a setting which values confidentiality and expresses the love and grace of Christ.  Debbie De La Huerta and other prayer warriors look forward to seeing lives changed as they listen to God and carry out His plan.  You are welcome to join the group for prayer when you can.

MOPS (Mothers of Pre-Schoolers) – Our MOPS group exists to encourage and strengthen women who are moms to infants, toddlers, and preschool aged children; to let them know that they are not alone during this season of their lives.  We provide practical instruction on mothering, as well as opportunities to deepen friendships and to serve one another.  MOPS is a place where you, as a mom, can be edified, encouraged, and find support…a place where you are not alone on this journey of mothering.  Olga Ochoa is in charge of organizing MOPS which meets every other Wednesday from September through April.

Women Discipling Women – We meet for the purpose of encouraging one another to experience the joy of the practical application of God’s word in our everyday lives, whether that be in cooking, gardening, decorating or other areas.  We share our gifts and abilities that are designed by God while having fellowship in a real-life setting.  Sandy Fuller is responsible for this ministry and invites you to check the calendar below for the next event.

Women’s Breakfasts (Isaiah 58:11) – This ministry provides women an opportunity to connect with other women at a breakfast on Saturday morning every other month.  It is a time for refreshment and renewal in our relationship with Jesus Christ through hearing the Word of God and witnessing how God is working in the lives of others.  Marisela Bellenbaum has a great team of devoted servants who look forward to serving you at the next breakfast.

Annual Retreat – Liz Nichol is the coordinator of our annual retreat with the purpose of withdrawing from the world and finding seclusion in the Lord.  The retreat is to be a time of refreshment which provides opportunities to build new friendships and strengthen established friendships through fellowship, prayer for one another, breaking bread together, worshipping our living God as one body, and learning about Him through teaching from His Word.

Christmas Decorating – Julie Tebo coordinates transforming the church from our everyday home to a place full of reminders of the birth of Christ as we celebrate Christmas.  She leads a team of ladies who have a heart to decorate or those who just want to lend a helping hand.  All are welcome to volunteer in this important ministry to our congregation.

Christmas Fellowship – Christmas is a special time of the year for the leader of our Christmas Fellowship, Rita Trejo.  She and her team help us usher in the Christmas season with a special women’s fellowship and the giving tree as they remind us that Christmas starts with Christ.  The fellowship is held on the second Saturday in December at 6:30 pm.  We hope you will plan to attend.

For more information or to let us know how we can better serve you in your walk with the Lord, contact Jerie Sagely, Women’s Ministry Coordinator, through the church office.  The church phone number is 805-485-0111 and is located at 1925 Eastman Avenue in Oxnard or you can email us at info@calvaryoxnard.org.  We would love for you to come and be a part of this growing ministry.
