I believe that there is no ministry apart from Jesus (by definition), and obviously the best way to know Jesus is by His Word. So, here's my take on Bible teaching with youth...
I figure that people pretty much forget the majority of what they hear - so even though I will do my best to study and communicate the text of scripture, my ultimate goal is to get students into their Bibles as a lifelong daily habit. Our speaker at the men's retreat, Tim Brown, shared with us how feeding on "milk" only (which he defined as regurgitated food - Bible which someone else has studied for us and teaches us) will not make us grow. Only when we feed on the "meat" (scripture which we study for ourselves) can we grow. I will faithfully share the "milk" but my desire is for students to feed on the "meat" - that which they study for themselves. Next article - how do we move students into a proper, personal study of the Word of God?
