Hi all,
Just jumping on to recap another Saturday Night in Downtown Ventura with the Jesus Booth.
You know, it's funny how folks respond in a variety of ways when they encounter the Gospel. Some common responses go something like; "But that is just so narrow-minded" or "But that's just not fair that there is only one way" or "Well, I don't believe that", and my personal favorite, "But that's just your interpretation". The later is what prompted me to write this blog today actually. You see, a lot of people simply know the Truth, but want to squirm and find a loophole in God's plan somehow. The time tested, but not really effective, "But that's just your interpretation..." response will naturally come out at some point in the conversation simply because it has become the mantra of our modern age.
Now I do not mean to belittle anyone at all, but this last Saturday night 2 young men came up to engage us at the Jesus Booth. Raymundo and James were tracking just fine with them and I ended up with one of them for bit as well. I guess I did not get the script for the evening because the phrase, "that's your interpretation" just kept rolling out over and over again. I mean, litterally everything thrown our their way was met by this response. I finally asked one of them to give me his interpretation to something, anything, to which he really could not. Typically I will read Scripture to someone and have them read it as well to avoid the "interpretation" argument. The issue really boils down to this generation and its lack of knowledge regarding the english language. As a society we have come to an agreement on what words mean and some people just do not want to acknowledge it or be accountable I suppose.
Please pray for these young men, and all the others out there you guys. Satan has really worked hard to deceive this generation, but not only has he blinded their eyes to the Truth, he is no doubt laughing at how unintelligent he has made them become. It is God who has declared, "The fool has said in his heart there is no God." Psalm 14:1, but Satan has worked overtime to dumb-down society as a whole and that is the real tragedy in this generation. We must never forget how much God loves them, and desires that they come to the "knowledge of the Truth" I Timothy 2:4. God has placed a lot of value on man and his mind and soul, so much value in fact that He became a man and died for us so that we could be reconciled back to Himself! When it comes to the Words of Jesus Christ regarding man's standing before Him, the need for salvation, the means of salvation and the eternal destiny awaiting everyone, I am thankful that it is not complicated or impossible to interpret or understand. This is the message that we need to remember to share when talk to the unbeliever.
God's Word is pure and simple, easy to understand when it comes to these basic precepts. How dare Satan trample on the lost so easily. Pray for the lost and endeavor to lead them to the Truth at all costs!
Psalm 19: 7-10
The law of the LORD is perfect, converting the soul; The testimony of the LORD is sure, making wise the simple; The statutes of the LORD are right, rejoicing the heart; The commandment of the LORD is pure, enlightening the eyes; The fear of the LORD is clean, enduring forever; The judgments of the LORD are true and righteous altogether. More to be desired are they than gold, Yea, than much fine gold; Sweeter also than honey and the honeycomb.
In Christ,
Jerry
