05 Mar Be the Body – March 6
Comparison kills contentment // 1 Cor 12:15–17
“15 If the foot should say, “Because I am not a hand, I do not belong to the body,” that would not make it any less a part of the body. 16 And if the ear should say, “Because I am not an eye, I do not belong to the body,” that would not make it any less a part of the body. 17 If the whole body were an eye, where would be the sense of hearing? If the whole body were an ear, where would be the sense of smell?”
Humans have this habit of comparing everything and everyone. We have Yelp, Instagram, Facebook and a host of other sites that rate and compare everything and everyone. Unchecked this will twist our view of how God has made us. People from the Corinthian church were even discounting their membership to the body of Christ because they were not like some of the more “gifted” members. Friends, by the Grace of God we have been adopted into God’s family. It is God’s grace that has made each of us unique. Let us not fall into the trap of comparison.
