Luke: Day 52

Letting Truth Reign –  Luke 11:14-15

In the face of the marvelous miracle of v. 14, Jesus’ critics draw a ludicrous conclusion, because they don’t WANT to believe in Him.

In John 14:6 Jesus said He is the Way, the Truth and the Life. Not just “a” way, truth and life; THE way, truth, and life. In other words, truth finds its origin and essence in Him. Therefore to reject Jesus is to reject truth.

Truth is more than facts. It’s the reality that underlies and connects facts, making sense of them. When someone knowingly rejects Jesus, they may know plenty of facts, but they lose the ability to connect them into a coherent whole. In other words, they may be very smart, but they have no wisdom. So they will draw absurd conclusions, as these critics did in v. 15.

What this means for us as followers of Jesus is that we need to make sure we’re not pushing  back against the truth of God’s Word in any way, shape or form. We must never sit in judgment on Scripture. Rather we must let it sit in judgment on us, so that we alter to align our thoughts with it.
