Luke: Day 35

 Good Soil – Luke 8:8-15

We all want to be the soil Jesus describes here. But He describes 3 less appealing soils before this. Hopefully that doesn’t mean only 1 in 4 Christians is “right-on” and living in the sweet spot in their walk with Him.

Indeed, if we’re to stay with the context of the parable, we’re looking at a field. In a field, it wouldn’t be an equal distribution of the 4 types of soil. This last soil would make up its majority. But the good soil doesn’t just happen. It’s the result of long and diligent care on the part of the farmer and his ancestors. Good soil speaks of preparation.

In application, what ought we do when it comes to pour “time in God’s Word”? How can we prepare our hearts and minds for hearing His truth?
