Luke – Day 11

GETTING READY FOR A VISIT – Luke 3:3-6; I Samuel 16:7; Psalm 139:23-24

Do you have a hero; someone you admire – A LOT? Someone you’d give anything to spend a couple hours with; asking questions; getting to know personally?

Imagine that wish is granted; and they’re coming to YOUR HOUSE in 2 weeks. What would you do to get ready? Does the house need some work? The yard? Do you need to get a list of questions ready in case nervousness erases all rational thought?

John the Baptist was the first prophet God sent to Israel for 400 years. His message is that the long-awaited Messiah was about to appear. But the people needed to get ready. They had moral and spiritual work to do lest the Messiah find them unprepared.

It’s wise to ponder what this says about our meeting with God. If we’d prepare to meet a celebrity, doesn’t meeting with Jesus deserve some consideration, some preparation of our soul?

How will you allow the Holy Spirit to “clean house” in your own heart today?
