Day 9

SOLID JOE – Galatians 6:9-10

Luke 2:4 • Joseph also went up from Galilee, out of the city of Nazareth, into Judea, to the city of David, which is called Bethlehem, because he was of the house and lineage of David,

Mary plays such a big part of Jesus’ birth story that we often neglect Joseph’s role. After his struggle with deciding what to do with Mary’s “untimely” pregnancy (he had a little help figuring out what to do) Joseph comes across as a really good guy who made a great adoptive dad for Jesus. Here we see him leading his very pregnant wife on this difficult journey. That could NOT have been easy. But he faithfully played his part.

It may be that you will never by the main character in a story. Your role may be to serve as an assistant to another in their story. Whatever your assignment, whatever it is God calls you to do, be faithful. Mary NEEDED Joe. She could not have pulled off what she did without him. And there are people in your life who won’t be able to fulfill their calling without you being faithful to your relationship with them.

Why does God invite us to be play a “small” part in these large narratives/stories? How might that bring Him glory? How can that draw us closer to Him?
