Day 8

DOUBT YOUR DOUBT – John 20:24-29

Luke 2:3 • So all went to be registered, everyone to his own city.

For decades skeptics claimed Luke made this up as a way to explain Joseph and Mary’s trip to Bethlehem. Then in the 20th Century, a large cache of ancient documents were found in Egypt. Several of them were tax records from the Roman Era. One of them held specific instructions for how a census registration like this was to be carried out. Sure enough, people were told they needed to return to their ancestral homes for the count and to make sure their land holdings were being properly maintained.

One after another, skeptics raise objections to our Faith, only to see them go down in flames when some new artifact or manuscript is unearthed. It’s happened so often you’d think the critics would have learned and kept silent.

Don’t be rattled by the nay-sayers who fix on something to pick at. Hold on; wait a bit. A shovel or brush at some archaeological site is just an inch away from the evidence that will once again, affirm our confidence in God’s Word.

Believe your beliefs and doubt your doubts.

Have you been honest with God about your own doubts? How do you think God might use them to help you know Him better? Do you trust Him with the things you are unsure about?
